NTBI SatNav Service

Revision as of 03:29, 21 January 2013 by imported>NelsonJenkins

By default, the NTBI SatNav in mesh vehicles uses the Second Life map for its map images. In some regions, map images are unreliable or simply entirely blocked out. If this is the case, you can submit your own map image to use, and it will be automatically loaded on any NTBI vehicle in your region.

Compatible Vehicles

Any mesh NTBI vehicle with the interactive NTBI SatNav screen is compatible with this service (including SZYM Intruder 5.0 and above).

Eligible Map Submissions

Your map image can either be a satellite view (sit on a prim a few hundred meters in the sky, aim down, tighten your FOV a few times with Ctrl+0, take a snapshot) or a street map.

You will need to edit the image yourself so it is the correct size and dimensions, and the edges conform to the actual edges of the region's land (there can not be any border). We require at least 512x512 px for the best quality; 1024x1024 is recommended for maps with text. Remember, the satnav zooms into the map image, so keep your text small.

How to Submit

Upload your image into SL, then right click it and select Copy Asset UUID. Please contact Nelson Jenkins with the name of the region and paste the UUID into the IM. It takes only a minute or two to set up map images, but if Nelson is offline/AFK it may take a few hours, so be patient. You will be notified when the map image has been set.

Who Can Submit

We ask that in roleplay sims and other highly-managed regions, only estate owners or managers submit map images to avoid conflicts and drama.

Hire Someone to Do It

Mikey Shu offers excellent mapping services and can help you submit maps to the NTBI SatNav service; IM him for prices and policies. Generally, it will cost L$500-700 per region.
