Software

Knowledge of your photo-editing software is required, as the document provided comes in layers and groups. Please note that Photoshop Elements does NOT support groups, making editing the vehicle hard.
Layers
The template consists out of different groups.
- UVmap: Use this as a reference for lining up text and symbols, makes editing a lot easier. Don't forget to hide the UVmap before you save the image and upload it to Second Life!
- Shadowmap: Ambient occlusion map that adds texture-based shading the the vehicle.
- Highlight overlay (group): These highlights go over the base color and the theme, to create a shine effect. Tweak the opacity to set the strength. Dark colors usually look better with a lower opacity than bright colors.
- Your Theme (group): Build your theme here.
- Highlights (group, hidden by default): The highlight group goes under the theme folder, and is primarily for the base color. Brighter colors (white or light grey for example) can benefit from this group. Duplicating this group will create a stronger effect.
- BaseColor: this is the base color. Tweak it to change.
Notes
- The area inside the side windows will only be visible on the Panel Van version. On all the other versions this will be glass.
- The hood area is slightly stretched out and bended, so you may need to tweak any text or symbols there to look right.
- The rear doors have a small gap between them. This may cause warping of text or symbols. Setting a small space on your texture between them will fix this.
- Do not duplicate the Highlight Overlay folder, the shadows and highlights around the windows will become too strong. Use the Highlights (lower) group instead.
- Texture size in SL is limited to 1024px by 1024px. Small details on your texture may appear blurry.
- ALWAYS save as a JPEG. Saving as a Targa or PNG, will cause an alpha conflict with other parts of the car.
